Volunteer Testimonials

My mother-in-law was a Chesterbrook resident for a while and I came to know and love the residents and the staff. So when a book club leader was needed, I jumped at the chance! Five years later, it is still the highlight of my month and I now also help with the library.

— Sally Jaggar

I love being a volunteer at Chesterbrook! The environment is exceptionally friendly and the staff exceptionally professional. I am exceptionally proud to have Chesterbrook in our McLean community!

— Donald H. DiLoreto

Volunteering at Chesterbrook Residences for the past seven years has given my life so much meaning and purpose. The best part of volunteering at Chesterbrook is the residents who attend my poetry readings every month and enjoy listening to poems that bring back so many memories of their youth and childhood. It means the world to me to see the residents smile as they reminisce and enjoy themselves. I am honored to volunteer in a program that fosters smiles and warm memories for the grateful residents of Chesterbrook.

— Fred B.

It is humbling to volunteer at Chesterbrook Residences. I have never met a more caring, dedicated staff; they share a vocation, not a job or career. The residents are treated with dignity, patience and compassion. Chesterbrook is not a facility, but a home , and its residents are part of a family. There is a spirituality about it which is unmistakable and moving. My mother was truly blessed to have lived the last four years of her life there; I feel blessed to be able to continue my relationship with Chesterbrook as a volunteer.

— Monica Keenan

I consider it a privilege to be part of the Chesterbrook community! On Tuesday’s I call Bingo for the residents and it is one of the most fulfilling and emotionally rewarding times of my week. The love and appreciation I feel far outweighs the minimal amount of time I give. It’s a true symbiotic relationship that I feel blessed to be a part of!
