Transitional Counseling Program – JSSA

Making the move to an assisted living community can be a difficult change for the individual resident as well as his or her family. Residents who are new to a senior living community may be leaving the home, neighborhood, and friends that they have been familiar with for decades.

At Chesterbrook Residences, we understand how difficult the change in lifestyle can be. To help make the adjustments easier for everyone involved, we offer two complimentary sessions with a transition counselor. Each session is 1 1/2 hours. This service is free to our new residents and is provided in conjunction with JSSA (Jewish Social Service Agency). Residents who wish to learn more or to schedule an appointment please contact our Resident Services Coordinator at Chesterbrook by calling 703-531-0781.

Caregiver Support Groups – JSSA

A support group for adult children of aging parents meets monthly at Chesterbrook Residences. Facilitated by a JSSA licensed clinical social worker, this group offers a respectful setting for gaining insight, sharing resources, and receiving support on caregiving.

Chesterbrook Residences, Inc., the organization that oversees Chesterbrook Residences, has formed an arrangement with the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) to – among other things – provide elder care services to Chesterbrook residents. For more than 120 years, JSSA has been helping individuals and families across the Washington metro area meet emotional, social, and physical challenges. JSSA provides services and support to more than 30,000 individuals annually through a wide range of non-sectarian programs. JSSA social workers have a specific understanding of the complexities of the aging process and can help you manage the growing demands and responsibilities of caring for yourself or your loved one.
