      Supervision and Direction

      The Receptionist receives general supervision and control from the Assistant Administrator. In the absence of the Assistant Administrator, the Receptionist will accept advice and instruction from the Administrator. The Receptionist will comply with established policies and operational procedures.

      Job Duties & Requirements

      The Receptionist is responsible for screening the traffic coming into the building during assigned hours in accordance with established policies and operational procedures.

      Specifically, the Receptionist:

      • Admits visitors and/or guests into the Facility as outlined in
        established policies and operational procedures.
      • Answers telephone and processes telephone calls properly.
      • Cleans and organizes the work areas.
      • Files work orders as instructed.
      • Maintains effective resident relations, while acting as a liaison
        between the Administrative Staff and the resident population.
      • Handles work orders, resident complaint forms and resident forms
        and submits these to the appropriate Administrative Staff member.
      • Performs light cleaning of office area.
      • Observes and protects residents’ rights including rights to
        confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
      • Practices safety procedures and complies with established
        reporting of accidents and injuries.

      Supervision and Direction:

      The Certified Nursing Assistant receives ge neral supervision and direction from the Assisted Living Charge Nurse/Unit Coordi nator. The Certified Nursing Assistant will comply with established policies and operat ional procedures. In the absence of the Assisted Living Charge Nurse/Unit Coordi nator, the Certified Nursing Assistant will accept advice and instruction from the Director of Nursing or his/her designee.

      Educational Requirements: CNA

      This position requires the candidate be a graduate of a nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia and to have successfully passed the competency evaluation program. The candidate must be listed in good standing with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Health Professionals. Must possess:

      • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a C.N.A. in this state.
      • Current CPR certification, or acquire certification within 60 days of hire.
      Duties and Responsibilities

      The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsibl e for the implementation of health related programs, services and activities which prom ote, enhance and maintain resident health and independence. He/she is responsible for implementing health related procedures and records in conformance with the orders of the Director of Nursing Services or his/her designee, the Assisted Living Charg e Nurse/Unit Coordinator, the residents’ physicians as well as the facility’s licensing agencies.

      Specifically, the Certified Nursing Assistant:
      • Implements service plans for each reside nt consistent with his/her needs and in concert with the residents’ physician orders.
      • Reports daily to the Assisted Living Charge Nurse/Unit Coordinator on the general health and welfare of the residents and maintains the proper and appropriate records.
      • Reports to Assisted Living Charge Nu rse/Unit Coordinator residents needing assistance with various activities of da ily living, medication, transportation to meals and activities or any other need once known to them.

      Supervision and Direction:

      The Cook receives general supervision and direction from the Head Cook and will comply with established policies and operational procedures. In the absence of the Head Cook, the Cook will accept advice and instruction from the Certified Dietary Manager and/or the Food Service Director.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      Specifically, the Cook:

      • Reports for work in required uniform as scheduled by Supervisor.
      • Must have a working knowledge of applicable sanitation codes and observes sanitation rules and regulations in preparation and storage of food and cleanliness of kitchen areas.
      • Is responsible for the cleanliness, organization and sanitation of the refrigerators, freezers and storerooms.
      • Assists in the supervision and guidance of dietary aides/wait staff, dishwashers and utility aides to ensure resident satisfaction and a quality dining experience for the residents. Consults with supervisor on the performance of dietary aides/wait staff, dishwashers and utility aides.
      • Prepares meals based on the day’s production order sheet in the amounts indicated. Uses standardized recipes and procedures without substitution unless authorized by supervisor.
      • Plans cooking schedules to have food ready on time but not too far in advance.
      • Must be able to safely operate kitchen utensils and equipment related to cooking and preparation.
      • Sets up food in steam tables and delivers food to dining rooms and Nursing Facility as scheduled. Checks food temperatures to ensure compliance with health department standards.
      • Reserves food for modified diets from regular preparation as necessary.
      • Serves meals efficiently and cheerfully. Greets residents and serves meals based on standardized portion sizes or required portion size for special diets as prescribed on production sheet and/or diet cards. Honors special requests of residents by offering an appropriate alternative such as canned soup, sautéed/broiled chicken breast, baked potato, eggs or leftovers. Assists with special diet selection. Freshens up line and replenishes food per house standards.
      • Assists and supervises catered and special events.
      • Collects meal tickets for all guest and employee meals.
      • Must be able to positively interact with residents, families, staff and others.
      • Provides guidance to dietary aide/wait staff to ensure resident satisfaction and a quality dining experience for the residents.
      • Ensures utility aide is performing tasks as assigned providing direction when needed. Consults with supervisor on utility aide performance.
      • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and to bend, crawl, stoop, push and lift in order to reach, and clean and deliver food as assigned.
      • Properly puts away all leftovers. Cleans pots and pans, steam table, serving utensils, steam table pans and any kitchen equipment. Cleans the dining room, serving line, dish room, and kitchen after meals as assigned. Assists with closing down of kitchen to include ensuring dining room, serving line, dish room, storage rooms, and kitchen are clean; equipment turned off; doors, refrigerators, freezers, dry storage, and exit doors are locked and trash emptied.
      • Performs cleaning tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
      • Observes and protects residents’ rights including rights to confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
      • Attends in-service programs as required.

      The Dietary Aide receives general supervision and direction from the Food Service Director and/or Certified Dietary Manager and will comply with established policies and operational procedures. In the absence of the Food Service Director and/or Certified Dietary Manager, the Dietary Aide will accept advice and instruction from the Cook and/or Administrator.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      Specifically, the Dietary Aide:

      • Reports for work in required uniform and as scheduled by the Supervisor.
      • Assists with meal preparation as assigned by the Cook.
      • Prepares the dining room for the next meal ensuring the table, chairs and carpet are clean; appropriate, clean linen and silverware are on tables; china and glassware are in place; and condiments are filled as outlined by the Supervisor.
      • Waits tables, efficiently and cheerfully as assigned. Assists residents requiring assistance with carrying trays, preparing food items, and filling and refilling drinks.
      • Sets up and delivers trays for residents according to take out forms, production sheets and as directed by the Supervisor.
      • Maintains high standards of sanitation in personal hygiene, food handling, preparation and storage.
      • Must be able to positively interact with residents, guests, staff, supervisor and others.
      • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and to bend, crawl, stoop, push and lift in order to reach and clean and deliver food as assigned.
      • Must be able to operate equipment related to cleaning, including but not limited to, dishwasher, garbage disposal, vacuum cleaner, and coffee and juice equipment. Uses care in operating equipment to avoid hitting people, walls and furniture.
      • Keeps spills (liquid and/or food) cleaned as soon as practicable in accordance with cleaning instructions.
      • Cleans the dining room, serving line, dish room and kitchen after meals as assigned. Assists with closing down of kitchen to include ensuring dining room, serving line, dish room, storage rooms, and kitchen are clean; equipment turned off; doors, refrigerators, freezers, dry storage, exit doors are locked and trash emptied.

  • Maintenance DepartmentJanitor

      Supervision and Direction:

      The Janitor receives general supervision and direction from the Manager/Administrator or designee. The Janitor will comply with established policies and procedures. In the absence of the Manager/Administrator or designee, the Janitor will accept advice and instruction from the Regional Director.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      The Janitor is responsible for performing the duties necessary to ensure the cleanliness of all building halls, storage areas, vacant apartments, stairways and other public areas.

      Specifically, the Janitor:

      • 1. Dusts, mops, vacuums, empties trash, wipe tables and cleans glass doors daily. Cleans windows and blinds as needed. The carpet should be shampooed periodically, as needed.
      • 2. Checks paper supplies, empties trash and cleans mirrors on a daily basis in the public restrooms. Cleaning and disinfecting should be done twice weekly along with the floors and fixtures or more frequently if needed.
      • 3. Trash carts in all buildings are to be dumped daily. Carts are to be hosed and cleaned daily. Trash rooms are to be cleaned and disinfected twice weekly or more often if needed.
      • 4. In the public areas, vacuums, dusts and sweeps stairway, halls, laundry rooms and lobbies every other day. Shampoos carpet as needed, approximately every one – three months. Cleans entrance glass daily. Dusts and damp cleans washers and dryers daily. Checks dryer lint traps daily. Empties laundry room trash daily. Building light fixtures should be dusted and emptied of insects, etc. once a month. The following should be cleaned as needed: all ashtrays, mailbox fronts, elevator doors, elevator tracks and all other doors. The Janitor is required to change light bulbs. Building damage, vandalism and other related incidents should be reported to the Manager/Administrator when discovered.
      • 5. When an apartment turnover occurs, the apartment is to be thoroughly cleaned upon move-out. Carpets are to be shampooed for each new resident before his/her move-in.
      • 6. The Janitor is responsible for using equipment and supplies in a prudent manner. He/she is responsible for informing the Supervisor when supplies need to be ordered. Equipment and supplies are to be stored in and transported on the cart that is provided.
      • 7. Reports to work in uniform provided him/her.
      • 8. Performs on-call responsibilities as assigned.
      • 9. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and to bend, crawl, stoop, push, and lift in order to deliver care and services as needed.
      • 10. Practices safety procedures and complies with established reporting of accidents and injuries.
      • 11. Performs other related duties that may be assigned.
  • Maintenance DepartmentHousekeeper

      Supervision and Direction:

      The Housekeeper receives general supervision and direction from the Manager/Administrator or designee. The Housekeeper will comply with established policies and operational procedures. In the absence of the Manager/Administrator, the Housekeeper will accept advice from the Regional Director.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      The Housekeeper is responsible for performing the duties required to provide adequate and efficient housekeeping functions that assure cleanliness of all assigned apartments, building halls, stairways and other public areas. Housekeepers will wear uniforms issued when reporting for work.

      Specifically, (in the public areas) the Housekeeper:

      • 1. Sweeps all public area stairways, halls, laundry rooms and building entrances on a daily basis.
      • 2. Cleans office windows and other glassed areas on a daily basis.
      • 3. Dusts and damp wipes all washers and dryers daily. The lint traps must be checked and cleaned daily and soapboxes and other trash is to be removed daily.
      • 4. Dusts all light fixtures, including high hanging globes and wall-mounted globes on a weekly basis. Insects, etc., should be removed once a month.
      • 5. Cleans mailbox fronts, public walls and halls once a month or more frequently if necessary.
      • 6. Performs any other related duties that may be assigned.

      Specifically, (in the apartments) the Housekeeper:

      • 1. Cleans resident units by vacuuming all carpets, sweeping and washing all tile floors, cleaning and sanitizing kitchens and bathrooms and cleaning all woodwork and doors on a weekly basis.
      • 2. Changes towels and bed linens a minimum of once every seven days and more often if necessary.
      • 3. Returns laundered bed and bath linens within 24 to 48 hours to the apartment.
      • 4. Checks refrigerators weekly and defrosts and cleans when necessary (if not selfdefrosting). Stoves and ovens will be cleaned as necessary.
      • 5. Dusts mini-blinds weekly and removes and washes when necessary.
      • 6. Moves furniture, with assistance from Janitor, and vacuums and cleans behind as necessary.
      • 7. Reports to Supervisor maintenance needs observed in units, or evidence of vermin, etc.
      • 8. Schedules with Janitor necessary shampooing of carpets.
      • 9. Cleans and prepares unit for occupancy after move-out, with assistance of Janitor and Maintenance Person.
      • 10. Observes and protects residents’ rights including rights to confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
      • 11. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and to bend, crawl, stoop, push, and lift in order to deliver care and services as needed.
      • 12. Practices safety procedures and complies with established reporting of accidents and injuries.
      • 13. Performs any other related duties that may be assigned.
